Monarch Caterpillars

We have two milkweed bushes on the playground at our school that are totally infested with caterpillars. There are hundreds of them. They are everywhere. They are super cute. I really like to hold them. Weird? Maybe.
They are eating all the leaves off the milkweed plants and then when they get about as big as the ones I'm holding they look for a place to hang upside down, like this
This one is hanging underneath a picnic table. Then they do this crazy, wiggly dance to make their skin come off.

After a few hours of that, they look like this-

These are on one of the playhouses. I told you, they are EVERYWHERE.

I read that they stay inside their chrysalis for two weeks and then....

We'll have a butterfly invasion.

Things I Like

Little boys that ASK to do homework.

Maggie falling asleep at dinner. After a basketball game and two birthday parties on Saturday she was pretty tired and SO cute.

Homemade Banana Bread. Yum.

Big cheesy smiles.

Sweet, loyal dog.

Coming home from the grocery store to a child who has green hair. He jumped out and surprised me when I walked in. He thought it was the funniest thing ever because I was VERY surprised. Oh, and that is pizza sauce on his forehead. All this happened while Jody was in charge.

I love seeing what Henry takes pictures of when he uses the camera. He had a turn on Saturday and he took about 20 pictures of this fan. Very artsy.

Sleepy Kitty Cat. I also like that Henry took this picture himself.

Finding baby gecko's in my house. Gross? No way! They are good luck, and they are super cute.

We do alot of this

This video was made one Saturday morning when Jody was at work and we were waiting for him to get home . This running around in circles thing happens alot. Henry and Maggie love to make videos of themselves and then immediately watch them over and over. They laugh and laugh at themselves. They think they are just the funniest two people ever!

Where does the Tooth Fairy live?

Look at those beautiful teeth.

Specifically the middle left on the bottom.

It has shifted about a centimeter in the past few months. It is also the SLIGHTEST bit loose, like not really loose but maybe if you mess with it enough it might move a little bit kind of loose. Anyway, because of this there has been a lot of tooth fairy talk going on around the house. I can usually come up with a good enough answer to most of the questions.

What does the tooth fairy do? Leaves money under your pillow when you loose a tooth.

Do I have to see the tooth fairy? um, no. She comes when you are sleeping.

When is this tooth going to fall out? I don't know but probably not for awhile.

But today Henry asked me where the tooth fairy lives and I really did not know what to say. I know that Santa lives at the North Pole, but the I have no idea where the Tooth Fairy lives. I finally told him that she lives in Tooth Fairy Land, but I don't know if he or I liked that answer. So, I need someone to please help me out and tell me where the tooth fairy lives. Any other information you may have about the her would also be helpful and much appreciated.

Things We Like

Ice Cream.
There is a Dairy Queen in the Navy Exchange food court, so naturally every time we go shopping there we have to get a treat.

Except for the only four year old in the history of the world who does not like ice cream, Henry, who gets rice from the Chinese restaurant right beside Dairy Queen.

Whatever makes you happy.

Waikiki Aquarium

There are lots of fun things to do in Hawaii. Obviously, there is a never ending supply of beach. There are also lots of museums and other "learning opportunities". One of our favorite places to go is the Honolulu Aquarium.

It is not very large, it takes about thirty minutes to go thru the whole thing, but the kids love it! We bought a membership so we can go as many times as we want. We go there alot. ALOT.

Last week we went downtown with our bikes and parked far away so we could ride bikes to the aquarium. After we were done looking at the fish we rode along Waikiki beach. It was a beautiful day. Lots of people were out sunbathing. I have never seen so many men in Speedo's.

After our bike ride we stopped at Teddy's Bigger Burger's and had a delish supper. Teddy's is awesome because it has food that we all like (burger's for us, chicken nuggets for the kids). It is also relatively inexpensive and they have a military discount.

Annual Blog Post

Last week we went on a lovely whale watching hike. Much fun was had by all. The kids even walked most of the way up. We had the jogging stroller for on the way down. We packed a lunch and stopped about mid way up to eat and watch for whales. They were hard to spot but we did manage to see a few. (except for Maggie, she has NO patience). We got very hot and Jody and I both got sunburned. The kids were ok because they were in the stroller half the time away from the sun. It was a nice hike but it was very crowded. We even ran into Colonel Tuck(the commander of the base). After the hike we were all very thirsty so we stopped by Jamba Juice and got a nice smoothie(or water for Maggie who won't try anything new). All in all it was a great day
