We have two milkweed bushes on the playground at our school that are totally infested with caterpillars. There are hundreds of them. They are everywhere. They are super cute. I really like to hold them. Weird? Maybe. They are eating all the leaves off the milkweed plants and then when they get about as big as the ones I'm holding they look for a place to hang upside down, like this
This one is hanging underneath a picnic table. Then they do this crazy, wiggly dance to make their skin come off.
After a few hours of that, they look like this-
These are on one of the playhouses. I told you, they are EVERYWHERE.
I read that they stay inside their chrysalis for two weeks and then....
We'll have a butterfly invasion.

i wait and wait and wait for some new news. i'll keep checking til something comes along. did your monachs already fly the coop?
